Educators continue to further develop their skills and knowledge through self-reflection, readings and research, and professional development.

Through observations, developmental knowledge, cultural awareness and a friendly and open approach to our daily interactions, we provide an environment that is open, warm, safe and caring for the children and their families.

We ensure that we treat all children and family members equally and with respect, regardless of race, gender, socio-economic status, ability or religion. We take pride in our inclusive nature and we foster a sense of belonging to this community.

DIPLOMA IN EARLY CHILDHOOD, EDUCATION AND CARE
Hi, my name is Deborah Baxter and I am the Director of Kerry Street Early Learning and Kinder. I have worked in Early Childhood Education for over 35 years. A Director for 4 years.
I have 3 adult children and Grandchildren. I love to travel and spend time with my family. We take many short trips in our caravan. I enjoy getting creative and learning new crafts.
I love working with Children, it is not a ‘job’ to me but my passion to help children develop to their fullest potential. I feel it is an honor and a privilege to be a part of your child’s life to introduce them to the wonderful world of learning and exploration, I believe the first 5 years of a child’s life should be filled with love, nurturing and exposure to many forms of learning.

Emma Makin ECTEARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER
Emma Lee Makin

Hello my name is Emma; I am the Early Childhood Teacher in our Kinder room at Kerry Street. I have a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) after graduating from Southern Cross University in 2015. Prior to gaining my degree I have been a Diploma qualified educator in a variety of long day care services for over 12 years. During my time as an educator I have traveled and worked overseas before becoming a parent myself and moving to South Australia in late 2015.

I pride myself in the relationships I build with children and believe that from positive relationships sprout the trust and support that children need to feel safe and secure in their learning environments. That trust and support flow both ways and it is important that while the children trust us educators it is important that we trust them and their abilities. In the kindy room we provide opportunities throughout the program for educated risk taking to occur, this includes but is not limited to proving real tools for children to engage in woodwork activities, using cooking utensils, and climbing the trees and poles in our yard.

I look forward to Teaching your child, getting to know them and your family.
